Abstract
The article concerns the reasons of increasing Russian interests in Ethiopia in the last decades of XIX century. The most important event on the eve of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1897 was the activities of Medical Corps of Russian Red Cross in Ethiopia that was sent to Ethiopia in order to provide medical assistance to the soldiers wounded during Italo-Ethiopian War in 1895-1896.
