Статья посвящена политической биографии и реформаторской деятельности президента Венесуэлы Уго Чавеса, возглавлявшего страну в 1999-2013 гг. Основное внимание уделяется экономическим, социальным и политическим итогам развития страны в рамках идеологии «социализма XXI века».
