Abstract
There are analyzed the traditions of collective memory studying and possibility of its research by means of social representation. The results of research of social representations of the Great Patriotic War are presented in two aspects: cross-cultural (samples of Russian and French Ss) and comparison of generations (veterans and students). Comparative analysis of essences of social representations allows eliciting of everyday interpretations of historical events of the World War II.
