Abstract
The article analyzes the ideas about the quality of life of older people in long-term social care institutions. The parameters that determine the subjective assessment of the quality of life are found: independence of decisions, maintaining viability, the importance of important relationships with the environment, and active acceptance of help. A necessary condition for a positive assessment of the quality of life of these people is their personal ability to be in demand – this gives meaning to their existence.
