This article recounts certain episodes from the life of the Soviet physical-mathematical community in 1960s—80s, narrated by an immediate participant in those events. The main actors in the narrative are such eminent scientists as A. D. Alexandrov, I. M. Vinogradov, M. A. Leontovich. The comparative characteristics are given of the moral atmosphere in the quarters of mathematicians and physicists of those days.
