- Abstract
The article studies written sources of the Kassite period (ca. 1531–1155 BC) which mention the office of šandabakku (gú.en.na/gá.dub.ba.(a) en.lílki) – governor of Kassite Nippur. The analysis of the documents delivers a number of people holding this office for more than 200 years, from at least the early fourteenth century to the reign of Adadšuma-uṣur (1216–1187 BC). There are several šandabakku-governors known from the later period as well. The author presents a brief overview of their functions and role in the system of provincial administration in Kassite Babylonia.
