Abstract

The main task of the paper is to attract attention of Russian scholars to one of the most fascinating problems in classical scholarship – the problem of mutual relations between poetry and visual art. Different scholars have different views, considering works of visual art to be a sort of illustration for poetry or, on the contrary, an independent kind of narration.
