- Abstract
The paper presents an analysis of the reform of Achaean cavalry by hipparch Philopoemen in 210/219 BC as described Polybius (10. 23) and Plutach (Philop. 7. 4–6). The main purpose is to explain training and manoeuvres of the cavalry described in Polybius’ text. Philopoemen reformed the training practice and probably armaments of his cavalry according to the Macedonian pattern.
