- Abstract
The article is a study of stone projectiles discovered at the site of Elizavetovskoe on the Don, a key settlement of the Scythian steppe. The authors present new data suggesting early use of torsion catapults in the Northern Pontic Area. The collection of stone projectiles of the site in question is one of the most reliably dated. It enhances our knowledge of warfare in the ancient states of the area and contributes to our understanding of the nuances of the developments which led to the desolation in the 3rd century BC of the Great Greek colony situated at the same site.
