Abstract

The paper deals with some aspects of the biography of the great Sanskrit scholar in connection with the publication of a book about him by A. Stache-Weiske, and the publication of Böhtlingk’s letters addressed to R.Roth compiled by the same author. Special attention is paid to the years spent in St. Petersburg (1842–1868), when the scholar was working on the St. Petersburg dictionary of Sanskrit and was an active member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences.
