Abstract
The article provides an overview of foreign works carried out in recent years in the field of typological databases application. The main attention is paid to the most interesting meaningful results; the mathematical apparatus and software tools used are not described in detail. It is shown that typological databases provide new opportunities for solving problems of language classification. The classification of languages is considered in various aspects: genealogical, areal, evolutionary.
