Abstract
During the last years Africa has become the main zone of Canada's military activity. The conservative government of S. Harper considered Africa as a new (after Afghanistan) principal front of the fight against international terrorism. The liberal government of J. Trudeau is trying to develop a new peacekeeping doctrine with account the specifics of peacekeeping in Africa. The main feature of this new peacekeeping doctrine is the focus not on the number of peacekeepers but on Canada's unique contribution to UN peacekeeping operation. The government of J. Trudeau devotes particular attention to the problem of child soldiers participation in armed conflicts in Africa.
